Prof: King of America

"Bling, gold chain, bling, I am king of America. I've had this dream as a kid and I'm living it." The new Prof album-KING GAMPO- is out and blowing kids' minds. It's a lovely album for a quiet day with the grandparents, your chess club meeting, and the neighborhood cricket tournament. Hmmm OR it might be the ultimate party album built on fresh flow and style, funky beats and some pretty crass lyrics from the man who just wants y'all to have a good time. Your call. But until the verdict is in... listen below and then snatch it up for FREE, homies.

Forever 27

The sudden and tragic death of Amy Winehouse leads me to ponder the fact that she, like many other musical artists, lived to the brief age of 27. A dark cloud of mystery and strangeness is cast over this coincidental group, all dying at an age that has taken more young musicians' lives than any other. Miss Winehouse joins the elite group with Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Brian Jones and so many more.

May you all rest in peace with music in your soul....

(500) Days of Summer

One of my favorite movies--(500) Days of Summer--comes with a great soundtrack. And it's something I've been addicted to all summer. How appropriate, eh?

Let the LED out

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, John Paul Jones

Only one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Yikes, where do I start? You're sure to find at least one Zeppelin song on every great 70s style movie soundtrack, because they are, undeniably, the epitome of pure rock and the sound of a generation. As the influence of many greats like Jeff Buckley, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Rush, and so many more, they are a staple of any true music lover's music collection.

12 albums... Awesome cover art

Lyrically magical...

"Fool In The Rain"

Well there's a light in your eye that keeps shining
Like a star that can't wait for the night
I hate to think I've been blinded baby
Why can't I see you tonight?

And the warmth of your smile starts a-burnin'
And the thrill of your touch gives me fright
And I'm shaking so much, really yearning
Why don't you show up, make it all right?
Yeah, it's all right.

And if you promised you'd love so completely
and you said you would always be true
You swore that you would never leave me, baby:
What ever happened to you?

And you thought it was only in movies
As you wish all your dreams would come true
It ain't the first time believe me, baby
I'm standin here feeling blue
Yeah I'm blue

Now I will stand in the rain on the corner
I'll watch the people go shuffling downtown
Another ten minutes no longer
And then I'm turning around

The clock on the wall's moving slower
My heart it sinks to the ground
And the storm that I thought would blow over
Clouds the light of the love that I found

Now my body is starting to quiver
And the palms of my hands getting wet
I've got no reason to doubt you baby,
It's all a terrible mess

I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless
When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop, hey
The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless
I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah
Light of the love that I found...

"What Is And What Should Never Be"

And if I say to you tomorrow. Take my hand, child, come with me.
It's to a castle I will take you, where what's to be, they say will be.

Catch the wind, see us spin, sail away, leave today, way up high in the sky.
But the wind won't blow, you really shouldn't go, it only goes to show
That you will be mine, by takin' our time.

And if you say to me tomorrow, oh what fun it all would be.
Then what's to stop us, pretty baby. But What Is And What Should Never Be.

So if you wake up with the sunrise, and all your dreams are still as new,
And happiness is what you need so bad, girl, the answer lies with you.

Oh the wind won't blow and we really shouldn't go and it only goes to show.
Catch the wind, we're gonna see it spin, we're gonna...sail, little girl
Everybody I know seems to know me well
but they're never gonna know that I move like hell.

You know a Zeppelin song when you hear one. Face melting guitar riffs, intense vocals, and purposefully placed drums. Man, they're definitely in the top ten reasons I was born in the wrong era. Rock on.

Music of a 90s Kid

It's been a minute since I last had an entry here... My apologies. But best not fret, looks like the world is still kicking without my musical opinions. Moving on.... I am a 90s kid. Through and through. Growing up, I had some questionable music preferences, but nonetheless, I have nostalgic feelings when I listen to certain cheesy songs from my childhood.

MmmBop- Hanson
Don't even get me started with these boys. And this song--just forget about it. I had a massive crush on the youngest brother, Zac, and this album was, regretfully, one of my first album purchases. Good call, Kara.

 Sometimes- Britney Spears
Ohh Britney. The first popstar gone crazy... I had Britney Spears barbies, at least two of her albums, and me and my friends constantly came up with choreography for many of her songs. Yikes.

It's Gonna Be Me- N'Sync
One man brought N'Sync to another level for me. Justin Timberlake. I was easily at level Obsessive. They had the dance moves, the cheesy lyrics, and the closet gay boy. And we all know that these are the key elements to any successful boy band.

Say You'll Be There- Spice Girls
The Spice Girls were easily my favorite group. And to think how much talent they truly don't have... Hmm oh well. I knew all the lyrics, watched the Spice World movie on VHS at least once a day, and to my own surprise today, my favorite Spice Girl was Ginger Spice. Apparently when I was 9 years old I didn't realize she was the most "scandalous" one.
